LA DOMPTEUSE

Common thread of the show

The perfect companion to the “ Glamazones“, the final scene of the Désirs revue, dressed in an incomparable costume in the shape of a horse, La Dompteuse gives you a peak at the Crazy Horse and at its “crazy horses”, which she impetuously dominates with her whip.

A new lesson in seduction, full of desires, which will leave you anything but indifferent!

Whenever she appears, she embodies the common thread between different scenes of the show, each time also adding that little touch of humor dear to the heart of the legendary Parisian cabaret at avenue George V.

An iconic house of creation

Placing creation and women at the center of his cabaret is the idée fixe that obsessed Alain Bernardin, the avant-garde artist who founded the Crazy Horse in 1951. This guiding principle of creation was taken up in 2006 by Chief Creative Officer Andrée Deissenberg, who, by integrating the legendary Parisian cabaret, tasked herself with the mission of raising the profile of The Crazy Horse by bringing it back to its roots as an major House of Creation, by continually renewing its repertoire.

Therefore, Guest Stars and Guest Creators are regularly invited to join the show in exclusive engagements. In 2008, Philippe Decouflé was assigned the mission to renew the Crazy Horse show, and was then joined by Ali Mahdavi wearing the hat of Artistic Director. The show Désirs was officially premiered on September 21, 2009 and was a resounding success.

To meet this need for continuous creation, since its premiere, the show has been gradually enriched with new creations: “Sputnik“, “Purple Underground“, “Take My Love“, and others.

At the opening of the 2013 season, the Crazy Horse unveiled its new closing scene, created by Philippe Decouflé, in collaboration with the cabaret team, a symbol of French chic.

Voilà “Glamazones” in which the beautiful dancers of the Crazy Horse troupe set the cabaret on fire one last time in the role of incredibly glamorous Amazons.

Conceived to perfectly complement “Glamazones”, “La Dompteuse” made its first stage appearance in the summer of 2014. This was the latest creation of the show Désirs created by the famous dancer and choreographer Philippe Decouflé, famous for staging the opening and closing ceremonies of the Albertville Olympics in 1992.

Talented designers

These two new creations mobilized various designers and the Crazy artistic teams under the direction of Philippe Decouflé.

The appearances of La Dompteuse are marked by music created by the composer Oli Le Baron.

The seductive costume was conceived by the artist and fashion designer Antoine Kruk and created at the cabaret by the Crazy Horse Costumes Workshop, tailored to each performer.

The gorgeous, very graphic boots, worn by this mischievous and impish character, were specially produced for the Crazy Horse by the Maison Ernest.

The light effects that magnify La Dompteuse were designed by Begoña Garcia Navas, Philippe Decouflé’s collaborator for the show Désirs. As for the amazing projections that adorn the skin of La Dompteuse like an haute couture creation, these were staged by Olivier Simola.
