The five vestals express their desire in this reverie: During this dance, they sacrifice their ancestral modesty on the altar of sensuality. This iconic scene is part of the repertoire created by Alain Bernardin. It is an oriental reverie inhabited by divine creatures. Their hips sway endlessly, the red and green lighting comes and goes . . . Appearances and disappearances
The dancers are particularly enigmatic in this scene. Dressed in red and green lighting, they appear and disappear into the obscurity, vanishing behind the images of vestals. The choreography that the dancers perform for Vestal’s Desire is incredibly technical. With their swirling hips desynchronized from their upper bodies, it is terribly mesmerizing. Their arms draw hieroglyphics, their swaying hips are reminiscent of the ripples of the sacred crocodiles of the Nile, and their graceful bearing echoes the grandeur of the Great Sphinx of Giza.
